Trekking
Every ride is graded as either suitable for novice or experienced riders. All rides for experienced riders provide the opportunity to walk, trot and canter. Our hill rides give magnificent views over Loch Ness and the Great Glen, whereas the Loch and Duck pond rides go through flat, open country, and woodlands. We make every effort to ensure that rides are classed according to ability. However, if a ride has riders of mixed abilities on it, you will be informed when booking and the ride will be restricted to walk and trot.
The average number of people on a ride is 4 - 8 people. Please remember to bring warm clothing and sensible footwear for your rides, as it can be quite cold in the hills, even in summer. If possible, bring a riding hat. We have a reasonable supply, but they won’t fit all heads!
We cater for most ages and stages, from the fourth birthday upwards. Younger children may only have Lead Rides or lessons, with trekking from around age seven.
Timetable – We are normally open seven days a week from 1 Oct – 30 June. At other times we are closed on Sundays.
A typical daily programme during high season is as follows:
Low season riding is by mutual arrangement. The proprietors reserve the right to change the time of rides if and when necessary. Other lengths of rides can, of course, be organised, and booked around the basic framework, depending on the availability of mounts and staff, including full day picnic rides.
Booking
To avoid disappointment it is advisable to book at least three to four days in advance during the summer months. Large groups should plan still further ahead. The stables telephone number is +44 (0)1456 450220.
